What to Expect & Bring

(Read this. It probably answers all of your questions about individual lesson programs at West Mountain.)

Rules of the Road

PRICE CUTOFF DAYS

Multi-week Program discount cut-off dates are in place for the benefit of our customers. Mailed-in orders will be accepted up to the actual cut-off day. Phone orders will also be taken throughout the cut-off day. Completed forms with payment must be received by West Mountain on the cut-off date or participants will be charged the higher rate. Deadline for program purchase is January 1, 2012.

CHANGES AND REFUNDS

Days and times can not be changed after the applications have been processed. Refunds for programs, tickets and rentals must be made prior to December 15, 2011 and a $25.00 processing fee will be charged. NO REFUNDS OR CREDITS WILL BE ISSUED AFTER DECEMBER 15,2011.

LIFT ACCESS AND LESSON INFORMATION

Participants will receive a pass for the program purchased. A lift-only pass is valid for lift access on participant’s scheduled day and time. A lift and lesson pass is valid for lift access and lesson on the scheduled day and time. A lift, lesson and rental pass is valid for lift, lesson and rentals on the scheduled day and time. The pass will be printed with the valid day and time period which corresponds with the purchased program. The pass is valid only for the times and dates the program is scheduled to run. Days, lesson times and rental status can not be changed once the application has been processed. The pass is not valid on any other dates, days or times. Treat the pass as cash, participants will not be allowed access to lifts, lessons or rental without a valid pass. Tickets will not be issued in the event a pass is lost or forgotten. Participant names will be printed on the pass and a pass is not transferrable. A lost pass may be replaced for an additional charge of $25.

MAKE-UPS

Participants missing any program days for any reason when West Mountain is in operation will lose all services for that day. If West Mountain is closed or unable to hold the program on your scheduled day, then a make up will be done starting the week of March 5, 2012, at your scheduled time and day of the week. Unused program days are not refundable or subject to make up at any time. If West Mountain is operating, programs will be run despite temperature or weather conditions. If you choose not to participate, you will lose all services for that day.

EQUIPMENT RENTAL

West Mountain offers both seasonal and daily rentals. Please visit the Rental Information page for more details.


OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Please read through the following information. Many of the questions you may have throughout the course of the season are answered right here. Programs purchased as described herein are considered discount skiing programs. Discount skiing programs fall under certain regulations set by West Mountain.

1. Once programs are processed refunds will not be issued.

2. Unused program days are not refundable or subject to makeup AT ANY TIME. If West Mountain is operating, programs will be run despite temperature or weather conditions. If you choose not to participate, you will not be given credit.

3. Six and twelve pack tickets, program passes and all other discounted lift tickets are not subject to any other discount program at West Mountain. Children under 6 years old DO NOT ski free with an adult with a six or twelve pack ticket or a program pass.

4. All six and twelve pack tickets expire on the last day of operation of the 2011 - 2012 ski season. Unused tickets are not redeemable any time after that, nor are they subject to any refund of any kind.

5. Once you sign up for a specific program day, your program pass will only be honored during program period on that day.

6. If you or your child forgets or loses a program pass, you cannot ski or ride.

What Team are You On?

Lesson level classifications for ski and snowboard

RED TEAM
Skiing - First time skiers and skiers starting basic wedge turns in the beginner area.
Snowboard - First time snowboarding and / or basic direction changes in the beginner area.

GREEN TEAM
Skiing - Skiing linked wedge turns on green beginner terrain.
Snowboard - Controlled basic skidded turns on green beginner terrain.

BLUE TEAM
Skiing - Skiing wedge christie turns on blue intermediate terrain. (Start turns in a wedge - finish turns parallel)
Snowboard - Riding dynamic skidded turns, switch and carving on intermediate terrain.

BLACK TEAM
Skiing -
Skiing with open parallel turns on all terrain.
Snowboard - Dynamic carving, freestyle ans all-mountain riding.

Important Notice!
Skiers, snowboarders and all lift passengers are governed by the New York State SAFETY IN SKIING CODE, Article 18 of New York General Obligations Law. Before affixing and using your pass or allowing any pass to be affixed to your person, your attention is directed to the following; Skiing can be enjoyed in many ways, at ski areas you may see people using alpine, snowboard, telemark and other specialized ski equipement such as that used by disabled or other skiers. Regardless of how you decide to enjoy the slopes, always show courtesy to others and be aware that there are elements of risk in skiing that common sense and personal awareness can help reduce. Observe the code listed below and share with other skiers the responsibilty for a great skiing experience!

KNOW THE CODE! IT'S YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.

  1. Always stay in control and be able to stop or avoid other people or objects
  2. People ahead of you have the right of way. It is your responsibility to avoid them.
  3. You must not stop where you obstruct a trail or are not visible from above.
  4. Whenever starting downhill or merging into a trail, look uphill and yeild to others.
  5. Always use devices to help prevent runaway equipment.
  6. Observe all posted signs and warnings. Keep off closed trails and out of closed areas.
  7. Prior to using any lift, you must have the knowledge and ability to load, ride and unload safely. This is a partial list. Be safet conscious!
